Is it best to get a food processor or stand mixer to make bread dough and cakes?

For dough and cakes, you definitely should get a stand mixer. Food processor does chopping, cutting, blending, but it’s not the same as a stand mixer. A lot of pastry requires gluten development during the mixing/blending process. This is something a food processor cannot really help you achieve. For baking needs, you should buy a stand mixer.

If you are into baking cakes and making dough for bread, pizza etc, a stand mixer is what you need. Stand mixer also helps you to whip up icing/frosting, cookie batter, meringue. These are things that a food processor cannot do.
